A new website has been launched that aims to foster understanding and raise awareness of HIV in the workplace.
Ensuring Positive Futures (EPF) is the force behind the website. EPF is a partnership of HIV charities, business organisations, trades unions and government bodies, lead by national HIV charity the UK Coalition of People Living with HIV and AIDS.
Since December 2005 HIV has been covered by the Disability Discrimination Act. This is legal recognition of the stigma and discrimination that all too often accompanies life with HIV. This new website offers advice and support relating to the DDA.
The website will offer a range of online toolkits including:
Toolkit for Employers: Information for employers on how to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act in relation to HIV, how to develop a HIV workplace policy and how best to support affected workers.
Toolkit for Trades Unions: Advice and guidance on how best to support any of their members affected by HIV.
Toolkit for People Living with HIV: An information guide for people living with HIV, with advice and support on workplace issues.
Media Centre: with key facts for journalists and editors, plus press contacts available for comment or interview, and as well as educational video clips, and other resources.
You can help by mentioning the website in your newsletters, linking to it from your own website or forwarding this email to anyone who might be interested.
